Each year our excellent judges hand out over £18,000 in prize money for your best submissions in poetry, short stories, flash fiction and first novels. 31st May 2018 Bridport Prize The Peggy Chapman-Andrews Award for a First Novel Writing a novel is a marathon effort and if you have a full or part-written novel to submit, we applaud you for your hard work to date. Submissions are welcome in any adult fiction genre including fiction for young adults (YA) providing there is a genuine crossover for adult readership. Non-fiction and fiction for children is not eligible. 31st May 2018 Bridport Prize Bath Novel Award The Bath Novel Award is a prize for unpublished and independently published novelists.
The winner of The Bath Novel Award 2018 will receive £2,500
Novels can be in any genre written for adult or young adult (13+) readers
30th April 2018 Bath Novel Award Bath Children’s Novel Award The Bath Children’s Novel Award 2018 will open for entries from June until November 2018 November 2018 Bath Novel Award The Betty Trask Prize & The Betty Trask Awards Betty Trask left a bequest to the Society of Authors in 1983 to fund prizes for first novels written by authors under the age of 35 in a traditional or romantic, but not experimental, style. Entries for 2018 closed Society of Authors Bristol Short Story Prize An annual international writing competition open to all published and unpublished, UK and non-UK based writers. Mslexia Women’s Fiction Awards 2018: Novella Competition
The competition is open to women of any nationality from any country, and welcomes unpublished fiction for adults or YA readers, of between 10,000 and 40,000 words in length (not including the title) in any genre.
As well as the top prize of £1,000, the winner will have the opportunity to have their novella published by Mslexia and Galley Beggar Press.

Children’s Novel Competition
The competition is open to women of any nationality from any country, and welcomes 5,000 word extracts of completed, unpublished novels for children or YA readers, of at least 15,000 words in length (not including the title).
As well as the top prize of £5,000, the winner and four finalists will receive manuscript feedback, and introductions to agents and editors, at a special event held in London.

The 2018 Exeter Novel Prize For the first ten thousand words and synopsis, not accepted for publication by a traditional publishing house. Open to all authors who are currently without representation by a literary agent, whether or not they have been published. Ist January 2019 Creative Matters The Paul Torday Prize
For novelists over sixty, published by traditional publisher.
The winner will receive £1,000, with a set of Paul Torday’s collected works. Runners-up will receive one specially selected Paul Torday novel with a commemorative book plate. The prize is indebted to W & N Fiction for generously providing these books by Paul Torday.
