April: The road to publication with Lucy Robinson
April 21, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm£5
Lucy Robinson is the best-selling author of four critically-acclaimed novels: The Day We Disappeared, The Unfinished Symphony of You and Me, A Passionate Love Affair with a Total Stranger and The Greatest Love Story of All Time, all of which are published by Penguin.
Prior to writing Lucy worked in theatre production and then factual television, working on documentaries for all of the UK’s major broadcasters. Her writing career began when she started a blog for Marie Claire.
Lucy’s talk to Novel Nights:
Lucy will share her experiences of being published, her thoughts on remaining inspired as a writer as well as the submission process.
Do authors need to be on social media? What is the relationship between blogging and book sales? Should you invest in writing courses or an MA? What is the publishing landscape like and is it possible to make money from literary fiction. Have you ever heard of the up and coming ‘book-club market?’
Lucy’s talk will touch on these subjects and she’ll answer questions from the audience and read from her latest novel, ‘The Day we Disappeared.’ Don’t miss Lucy’s talk. TICKETS ON THE DOOR
Lucy grew up in Gloucestershire and studied at Birmingham University. After more than a decade living in London she flew (rather impulsively) to South America, where she wrote her first two novels.
Lucy now lives in Bristol with her partner and enjoys undertaking outdoor challenges to get away from her desk. In 2015 she walked 300 miles around the coast of Cornwall over five weeks and in 2016 she is taking Alistair Humphreys’ microadventure challenge, which will see her sleeping completely wild, without a tent, at least once a month, every month, for the whole year.
